Re: [Everything doTERRA] what materials to bring to doctor about supplements and oils

I'm so sorry you had that experience. Hang onto the thread of hope that there are psychiatrist's out there who operate with an open mind. When I informed my Dr. that I had weaned off all her prescriptions and was treating symptoms with nutritional supplements and essential oils, she smiled and said, "So you chose health" now she did provide a stern caution that I am responsible for monitoring my own moods. . .namely the depression; and any damaging behavior from the mania. (Bipolar, PTSD, MDD, and a few others). I'm proud of your courage and conviction to both help your son and stand firm in your belief in the face of the Dr.'s "authority". It is not always easy to find our voice amidst the world's (specifically USA's) mindset regarding allopathic medicine, big pharma lobbyists, television advertising, and acceptability for "medicating" life's challenges. . .who wouldn't develop issues with all the advertisements prompting us to focus on what is wrong in life rather than what is right. And what do you know, here's a pill to fix it.

Well the psychiatrist of course did not advocate the use of the supplements and gave me the whole speal on how they aren't FDA regulated and how they won't cure anything and they can't be an alternative to meds and on and on ....I was exhausted at the end of it , but ultimately Joe will try them and I pray they let him continue with them ....leaving there though I have a feeling they will be watching him like a hawk!

He will be doing this on his own and not be monitored which is fine because he is very capable but one of the worries was what if he takes too much! I thought well it's more like will he remember to take them! lol But anyway i expected the strong resistance and tried really hard to stay balanced and I understand why he would be skeptical in his schooled way of thinking , so I left the LLV and oils with my son and prayed a lot! I know if he uses them , they will help tremendously!

thanks everyone for your help

Ok, that makes sense Linda. They are super-controlling about supplements, even stuff that has been clinically proven to work like Truehope.  My friend's son is in a place like that and although it has helped other family members they refuse to let him use it.  Hope it works out better for you son.  Geez, it's just nature! They are not afraid of all the chemicals they give them. Such a mixed up world :(

Why does he need the doctor's permission? These are not drugs, just food products. There are very few doctors who have any clue what an essential oil is or even what vitamins and minerals do.
