Definitely before brushing. 1 to 2 tablespoons of EVCO. I use a 2 Tbsp medicine cup like comes with Nyquil (of course, I don't buy Nyquil since I discovered doTERRA) and fill it about 2/3 to 3/4 full. Then I add 4 or 5 drops of essential oils.
