I learned today of a little baby born with this condition - research seems to point to an autoimmune disorder, but there also seems to be a number of "sub-diseases" - this article says that 1 in 50,000 are affected, and the man who was speaking today said 1 in 1 million. He also said that the life expectancy for the baby girl, without treatment, was 1-2 years - so I'm thinking it may be one of the rarer strains of the disease. He said that the parents were waiting for a bone marrow transplant that has only been performed 18 times previously to try to cure the disease (all on other children, of course!)These parents are beside themselves. Can you imagine when you go to change your baby's diaper, and you wipe their little bottom, and all the skin comes off with the wipe?I don't know these people personally, I know the mom's brother. Is there anything I can suggest for them? Baby is a couple of months old.ThanksVikki--
