My first surgery I didn't know about this and it took me a week to feel better from the pain, even with the drugs. My 2nd surgery I was more prepared and only needed the pain meds for two days. And honestly, the 2nd time they gave me a lower dosage of the meds and they didn't even numb the pain. It wasn't until I added this recipe did it help and since the meds weren't doing much for me anyway, I just stopped taking them a couple days later. I took the capsules as needed and I think after about 5 days I only needed about one capsule a day. I'm sure it's different for everybody. This is just what I personally experienced so I would adjust according to what your body needs and ideally, slowly wean yourself off pain meds with a dr's help.--
