Re: [Everything doTERRA] Toothpaste

Wow, I didn't know that about Xylitol, Thanks Vicki. What about glycerin? And where is the information on Stevia? Would love to see the findings. I'm a little behind in my research lately. Thanks for sharing this information. I stand corrected. :-)

Xylitol is, indeed, a natural substance, extracted from plants, and not man-made. I switched to Xylitol because stevia has been proven to be not as safe as it was originally thought to be, and Xylitol is described as "tooth friendly"

I agree with your thoughts on salt, this toothpaste mixture is salty!

Make sure you use non aluminum baking soda. Red Mill is non-aluminum and you can find it in the health food store. I would also personally not use the glycerin (what's in it and is it necessary?)or xylitol as they are man made. Use the powdered stevia if you need a sweetener. As for the salt, there is enough salt in the baking soda. Just suggestions, My recipe is simple, just enough baking soda to fill a small easily accessible for the toothbrush, container, and put only a drop or two of favorite oil to use. I usually use only Peppermint or On Guard. Then I mix it together with a toothpick till it is totally mixed in the baking soda. I have never tried the kind of recipe you have posted. It sounds good. Just don't know that I would use all the ingredients you suggested.

Hi, I was going to use this recipe to make some toothpaste but I

don't have any birch and none is offered from doTerra:

A suggested toothpaste recipe

• 6 tsp baking soda

• 1/3 tsp salt

• 1/2 tsp xylitol (a natural sweetener)

• 4 tsp glycerin

• 10 drops peppermint

• 3 drops OnGuard

• 2 drops melaleuca

• 3 drops birch

Could someone tell me if the birch is necessary or if it can be

replaced with anything? It would be really nice if recipes like this

one had alternate ingredients if some of the oils aren't always

available.
