RE: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Candles?

I agree that it might be wasteful to use doterra oils in candles.  However, if I were going to make candles, I would use doterra oils even though the beneficial properities would be ruined.  I have found that any synthetic smells give me a headache, but of course doterra oils don't because they're natural.  Since, I've started using doterra this has gotten even worse...I have even less tolerance for synthetic smells because I don't have any in my house:)  If she is willing to spend the money, I would say do it!  I would choose a cheap oil to send her and maybe she could make a smaller sample candle to start with:)  I use 15 drops in 2 oz of homemade deodorant.  I would at least double that for a scented candle, but I'm totally just guessing.  Also,FYI when I make something from a recipe calling for oils (not doterra specific) I use about half of what is called for and its plenty.

Darn... this is what i was thinking all along but she really wanted to have an 'all natural' line of candles.  I'll have to figure out what health issues she might have.

Thanks Pat

There is never a time that I would not want someone to use our oils. But using them to make candles is a waste of good oil. They are also very expensive to use enough oil to have
the smell that is desired. I would suggest she go to a food grade oil and use doTerra for herself and her families health and wellness needs.

Folks, I have someone interested who makes candles.  I know it would be heated probably too high for 'therapeutic qualities' but I want to know how much oil to send her.  She said she uses 1oz to make her candles that are a small mason jar.  How much oil should I give her?  1 oz is equal to 8 drams.  I don't think I can afford to send her that much...  I don't think she'd need that much since our oils are more potent too.  What are your suggestions?  She is really interested!  I don't want to let her down!

Thanks
Emily
