Re: [Everything doTERRA] Do oils break down during the "soapification" process?

I did answer this with the suggestion that she find a food quality oil to use as the soap process will break down the oils.

Carrie,
Its a common question actully! And you have good reasoning. You do not want to cold process soap making with CPTG essential oils . The sodium hydroxide ruins the properties....and changes everything except sometime the smell. It does weird stuff to coloring as well. There are different ways to make soap...like remilling or rebatching that you could add the essential oil to. You could try it then.  Its kinda humerious when people sell tea tree soap for it antibacterial properties... Just buy the CPTG oil and rub it on you for the antibacterial benefits in the lotion( if needed) after pushin those grocery carts.  Just an opinion.

I met a woman who makes soap and wants to use essential oils in her
products. She is concerned about whether the oils will break down
during the soapification process of 6-8 weeks of curing in lye and
lard. I emailed an inquiry via the doterra.com website two weeks ago
but have not gotten answer.  Any feedback?
Thank you!
